A Memorable Experience-Priya(School life)
A memorable experience for me is when I won the first place in the Oratorical competition organised by Raffles Institution in Primary 5. It was a memorable experience for me because it was the first time that I had presented in front of many people! Actually, my parents were surprised to hear me speak out as I was as timid as a mouse to speak up for the first 4 years of my primary school years. The part which I never expected was clinching the first prize. From then onwards,I have boosted my self-confidence in everything and is much more comfortable of speaking up in presentations.

A Memorable Experience(June Hols)-Jamie
Hmm... Well, one memorable experience during the June holidays is... Err... How about my brother's birthday celebration? Here goes...
On 4th June, my eldest brother,16, had a double celebration for lunch and dinner. The reason he had a double celebration was because my cousins wanted to celebrate it with him as well. Well, for lunch, my family, consisting of 5 people, celebrated his birthday at Jack's Place. We all ate till our stomachs nearly burst! I did not see how we would still be able to eat dinner.
For dinner, my father stayed at home while my mother brought me and my brothers to the Marche Restaurant. We took the MRT and met our cousins there. I think the way the staff take the bill is very interesting. One of them will hand us each a card, which will then be used to store the prices of the different food items we buy as we walk around by just simply slashing the card and then at the end of the meal, these cards will be used to calculate the total amount each of us spent. I think the prices there are too costly though. It probably burnt a hole in my mother's pocket.(she was picking up the tabs) My cousin put up the photos on Facebook too! You can view it if you want to.
During dinner, my cousins made me an offer. If I scored at least 260 for my PSLE, they would give me 100RM each and bring me to Genting during the End if Year School Holidays.(I have 3 cousins, by the way) Sigh... My brothers never did have so much pressure about their results... Now my father is telling me to aim for 270 and if I get it, he'll get me a new phone... Let's hope I get at least 260...

A Memorable Experience That Happen In My School Days —— Zhu XinYu

I remember I was in Primary 4 or 5 , I joined Chinese Dance . One normal day after my CCA ends , I sat at the bus stop , put my small bag that carried my Uniform aside and wait for the bus . The bus came after a while and got on the bus . I got home and wanted to wash my Uniform so that I could wear it tomorrow . Guess what ?! I could not find it ! Oh Gosh !!! I left it at the bus stop ! Again , I m shocked . And afterwards , I went through something and I got my Uniform back .
I remember when I m in Primary 6 , I moved and take bus no.853 home . One normal day after school , I boarded the bus , sitted down together with my friend and start chatting . On the way , I heard a " bang " sound suddenly and I thought it was the sound of the bottle which dropped on the floor . I alighted the bus happily and waved to say goodbye to my friend . I reached my hand into my pocket and ... It was empty !!! My phone !!!? I m shocked the thrice . And I went through something and I did not get back my phone . T _ T
I felt very lucky to got all my things back when I forgot them at somewhere most of the time but I might not be that lucky the next time . I learnt a lesson after those things that I should be more concerned about my things . I could not delete my memory on these although time passes . But it does remind me about my mistakes .

A memorable experience that happen in my life is the day we went to the three day, two night camp in primary 5. Although the food there is very normal, I still enjoy the activities such as flying fog and more.We have to sleep in the place where there are many bees flying around. We also could hear the sound made from the frogs. At the third day, we had to write our reflection and to do our duties. My group was assigned to clean the boy's toilet and we found lots of clothes there.

A memorable experience that happen in my life - Winona
I cannot ever forget about the trip to the Escape Theme Park organised by Ms Teh to congradulate us, the selected art club member for the SYF, for doing our best and winning the 'most outstanding' award and $500 for the school. At the theme park we played all kinds of the game attractions, like the Go-kart, viking ship...... talking about the viking ship my best friend Tizane squeezed my hand so hard that i screamed as lond as i can when we were at the top of the viking ship and came down. It almost felt as if my heart was in my mouth. I also remember that when Joanne was on the Go-kart track, she hit on the tires along the track. We went to Burger King for lunch also at that time a strom was starting to brew. By the time we had eaten finish our lunch, it was already raining heavily, the result... we couldn't play the outdoor theme park. But there was the hunted house which was indoor...Ms Teh asked us if we wanted to go to the hunted house but i took a step back as i was afraid of nightmares. By the time our learning journey ended and was about to leave , the rain ended. It was kind of Ms Teh to buy us Mcdonald ice cream at Downtown East while waiting for our bus outside Downtown East. It was a memorable experience that i will never forget!!!

A memorable experience that happened in my life is a trip to Jalan Behtera. It was a leadership camp for all primary 5 but some of them did not go.What a waste! We had lots of fun.We played different kind of games example:flying fox, kayaking and more. How I wish that our school would bring us there again after PSLE.
A Memorable Experience- Zaki
During the first week of June holidays, I treated myself to a break.I went to the Science Centre for the Pixar exhibition and went cycling with my mom. I also went for squash with my parents and uncle. But the most memorable experience of all came during the weekend. I went to the Universal Studios Singapore on Saturday with my whole family. IT WAS BADASSLY AWESOME.Even though the Battlestar Galactica ride was down, we just had a shot. We're planning to go back anyway. When we arrived there, we were lucky. We bought our tickets online weeks ago and on that day, tickets were sold out. And so, we entered. AWESOME. It was undescribable. Everything was built so picturesquese. The buildings looked so real and you could see the influence in them. First, we started our day at the Revenge of the Mummy ride. I got nightmares. It was 'PSHHH' and "FWSOOO' and we were going backwards, downwards, flames popped out of nowhere, bugs and robots and they took our picture on the way. There was plenty of screaming. Then, after some browsing of the souvenir shop, we went to the raft ride in the dinosaur part. It was pretty predictable. I won't tell any details but just some more screaming and getting wet. Real wet. SO wet, we had to change clothes. So after we changed clothes, we went for this 'Pantage Monster Rock Musical' It featured all the different monsters singing. Awesome. Gay Phantom of the Opera, go! Then we had a treat to some real-life visual effects hosted by Steven Spielberg. Cool. Then we went to this Canopy Flyer. WE had to wait for an hour but it was worth it. It started out slow but we were having a heck of a time. We also wanted to go on another ride but the rides were closing soon, so we went for some dinner. We had dinner at this cool New York-ish pizza cafeteria and the food was great. We bought a couple of T-shirts and also this insanely great popcorn at this place next to the Hershey Chocolate World. It was a Chicago-ish gourmet popcorn thingy and there was a huge line. And so, our trip ended. Worth it? Eh..could be better if only they opened their crown jewel but it was okay.Plus, the World Cup was going on and Holland won every match. GO ORANJE! Just hope they at least go to the finals. And, I also went for the SST and NUS High DSA test. Really tough. Really hope I can just go to the waiting list. And so, I wrap up this blog post. Was it a memorable experience? Definitely. Rock on.
A memorable experience--in June holidays--Hui Min
On Vesak Day,Shannon,Rathi,Tizane and I went to Escape Theme Park.We went there very early and were the first to buy the tickets. We dashed in right after the gates were opened and headed for the Go Karts first. However,Rathi's height was not acceptable so she could not play that.
Then,we went to the Viking Ship.I wasn't sure how scary it was and sat at the end with Shannon while Tizane and Rathi sat at the other end. When the ship rocked to the greatest radiant,I started shouting like mad. When we get down,I was really regretful to be cheated by Shannon.
After that, we went to the wet n wild.It was really fun when it is sliding down the 15m slide. You could actually feel as though you are going to fly off when you didn't grip tightly.I was seating at the back and even though I wore a poncho,my shorts were completely wet.
Then we went to every other stations and had a lot of fun. However,Shannon and others decided to play the viking ship again.I have no choice but go with them.Luckily,we sat in the middle. It was fun so we sat one more time, but my shoutings made me really giddy so I vomited in the toilet. While I was resting, can you believe it,the others went and play the ship about eleven times! To be frank,I started feeling that they are immortals(at least to me).
We then queued up for the bumper boats and I loved that, even though we were completely wet by the spraying of water.Hence we decided that since we were completely wet,we went to play wet n wild without those ponchos. It's really nice. However, only Shannon and I brought another set of dry clothes with us.
The most memorable station that we went was Haunted. When we went in,it was really dark.I turned and saw a girl staring at me--she was fake--i started shouting. As we go on the crew that let us through is really bad,he kept on putting his fingers on the sensors so as to make things inside move.I still remember when we went into a room lit by blue lights and in the middle of the room there's a bed.A women with her intestines and other organs seen from the inside lays on the bed.The crew kept on saying that the women was his girlfriend.Gross!Frankly,it was fun too!
That day,we played the whole day and when I got home,I was so tired that I fell asleep in the sofa.I really enjoyed that day and that was the first time I goes out with friends to parks like that.

On vesak day,Hui Min,Tizane, Rathi and I went to the Escape Theme Park.Tizane's mother brought us there .We arrived very early but the Escape Theme Park was not opened yet.We were the first to buy the entry tickets.
When the theme park is opened ,we dashed in and went to the go-kart to ride the 'cars' ,because rathi's height didnt manage to reach their limit,Tizane, hui min and i have to ride the ride ourselves.it was too bumpy:D....!
after that, we went to ride the viking ship, hui min and i sat at the last row on one side and tizane and rathi sat at the last row of the other side....when the ship got to its maximum height, hui min shouted like mad....!it was so funny....rathi and i kept laughing...:D...since the ship had only 4 of us,the crew stopped the ship as hui min was shouting her head off......
after that we went to ride the wet and wild....it had 2 slides.it was so watery:D....we sat that about 5 times continuously as there is nobody queuing....
after that we went to the family ride-kiddy roller coaster....although it was not that type of real roller coaster but it is rather fun....
after that we went to the haunted house, only 4 of us went in with the crew-nobody else.0.o...rathi was the first then hui min, tizane and i squeezed behind rathi....the crew was really bad,he tap us lightly on our shoulders as to make it more scary.some of the ghostly stuff are sensored-when they sense that there are humans walking past, they will 'move'....it was scary .....i almost cried...when we reach a place where there is a door,we try banging on the door to go out,but that door wasn't opened....:(....we continued walking ,when we saw a dead body with her intestines out,the crew said that that was her girlfriend0.o....hahas!finally we manged to get out, before we got out,we hit the crew on his shoulders because he scared us over and over again,.....
after that we went to the type of 'boat' which you could spray water at each other....so cooling to play such a game on a hot weather....tizane did not want to play it as she is afraid that she might get wet....
then we went to change tokens to play at the carnival,we played horse racing ,i won the race and won a winnie the pooh....
after that we played all the games repeatedly....
as for hui min ,she had a headache and a stomachache after playing the viking for the second time.
we thought that she was hugry so we went to eat with her,all of us bought instant noodle except for hui min...after that hui min asked us to go and play while she'll stay there and rest for a period of time...
rathi and i went to play the viking we played for 5 times when tizane came and join us.....when the viking got to its maximim height, tizane kept asking me :why is it so high?
then i replied:"its that high...."....
after all sorts of playing, tizane and rathi went home at about 5.15 while hui min and i went back at around 6.....we really had lots of fun^^

A Memorable Experience during June holidays-Natalie
Hmm... Oh right! My family and I went to the Singapore Art Museum... It was lots of fun! It was my first time there so everything was new. We saw lots of paintings and sculptures there but it was quite confusing going around the building. Well, there were mostly paintings and sculptures but they were done in a captivating way. Among those paintings and sculptures were something about politics.... surely the adults would understand but not us kids! Maybe I'll understand when I go back a decade later. :-D Then opposite the museum was some sort of extension, called SAM(Singapore Art Museum not the bill-paying machine)at 8Q.It was more interactive than the museum itself and I think that's why I remembered more of that. :-P On the first floor there was a big room with nothing but different-sized green pyramid cushions. That was when my sister started bombarding cushions at me.But the part I liked the best was the Floribots and Daisies. Walk across the floor and the "daisies" on it will disappear. So I hope Ms Mas would bring us there(SAM@8Q) after PSLE.(And if we're lucky we can bombard each other with the cushions:-P)

Now that we are back to school i am anticipating for the december holidays to arrive...

It's simple. Winning the first ever south-zone basketball championship for the school. How can that not be a memorable experience? I was even sick in that day and I still played good! I wish I could go back in time and win the national championship because I think I got better. I know I can't go back in time, but it's possible, so i'll just wait for my high school days to come! I can't wait! I want to play basketball and accomplish my goals in my life because I get one step closer to my goal everytime.

THE CASINO
Many people think that the casino in Singapore is great news. They think that it will help to attract more tourists and increase Singapore's popularity, earning more money in the process. But I think that there really isn't a need to have that casino at all! Yeah, more tourists will come to Singapore. But so what? By opening that casino, Singapore is practically encouraging gamblers to gamble more and losing everything they have in the end. So, if you ask me, Singapore is only inviting trouble by building that casino.

Now the Singapore Casino has just opened, many tourists from other countries came to gamble. The government had spent so much money on that casino. They also think if they want to set a grand casino in Sentosa.

I agree to some wildlife protectors for their actions to protect wildlifes, but I do not agree those countries which refused to agree to a ban. I do understands why they do not agree because they have to earn for their living. But, due to their selfishness, we might not have any chances to save the Tuna from extinct. I wish that people can reduce the times of eating Tuna and catching them.

The Casino
Recently, the Singapore's very first casino has opened after some time of the government deciding whether to build it or not. They could earn money and more tourists and more reputation but there's still the problem of problem gambling. Loansharking too. So to fix this, the government puts a $100 levy (I think) for any Singaporeans or PRs who want to gamble there. They also have put in place a thing that you can sigh and you won't be able to enter the casino. But the government still is afraid. This could cause some people to gamble more. Interestingly, though, there has been a rise in calls for the Problem Gambling centre and more submissions for people to ban themselves. More loansharks have been caught too. Interesting, really. One would think more people would start to gamble but the number of Singaporeans there isn't really high. Amazing.

Article review-Priya
The article which gave me information and I like is MASOT PARADE. It taught me about the mascots of Singapore. The mascots which I had not heard is Captain Green,Teamy the bee and Durian boy. I learnt more about the mascots' qualities and I found them interesting.I hope that Singapore would create more creative, fascinating and symbolic mascots to symbolises Singapore.

Newly opened casino is what I am going to talk about. As many adults find it wonderful to have a casino,I do not share the feeling. I feel that there is NO need to have a casino in Singapore.Well, the government built it thinking that it would attract tourists to Singapore and that would help build its economic level. But did they think that it would affect a Singaporean's income if he gambles away his salary? I hope that the government would think over this matter and make a sensible decision. I hope that the government would make more rules and regulations that stops an average person from entering the casino so that the everything is order.
What's up article review- Places in Peril Zaki
I must have said this a lot but really. The impact of humanity is big. Sometimes its good but most of the times, its bad. Tourism is good but (notice the but) it can destroy or create. Create money, yes. Destroy places of interest, yes. Creating money without destroying something? Unheard of. What's Up shows some of the places of interests, some very ancient that are being destroyed by the increasing number of tourists visiting them . Stonehedge is now becoming a place crammed with tourists and you can smell smoke and rumble as cars drive along the 2 highways next to it. Macchu Picchu is a place littered everywhere. Apparently, its too weak to withstand the 2500 tourists visiting it everyday. Now, without the What's Up article I can say plenty more examples but I wouldn't as you would think I would be ranting. But seriously, a question from Mr. Bunny and Mr. Zaki to some specific people, what the fuzzy bunnies are you doing?
Natalie-Flipside
Recently the volcanic ashes coming from the Iceland volcano 'Eyjafjallajokull' (huff..huff..) are disrupting flights in Europe. Many people are trapped in Singapore. It could have a good point-more tourists. The tourists reluctantly have to prolong their trip here and they have to go out and spend money.(obviously they don't want to be bored to death in the hotel..) Their spending more money means more money we get. And that leads to higher pay for working people. That means more money saved.(HUFF......HUFF) And the cycle continues.... So MAYBE this 'volcanic ash in the air thing' is good for us. Of course,I can always talk about the negative things but that would take you an hour to read. But I'm also NOT saying that this should continue. The sooner things settle the better, agree?

The first casino in Singapore opened lately and attracted many people. Many people agreed to idea of a casino. However, for me,i totally disagree about it as in Sigapore,i could say that a lot of people owe bank money because of gambling. If they could not afford to pay the bank, they loan from loan sharks and families broke out and more unfortunate events one by one happened. If one moreway of gambling is introduced,WHat would be the outcome then?

Im reviewing about the climate change in the Pilippines. The climate has been really hot in the philippines. The highest temperature that reached the Philippines yet is 36.8 degrees celcius. It could get higher. It causes the loss of water and the humid will be higher. So the life in the Philippines is pretty difficult, as some people chose to soak themselves in cold water and causes their water bills to be more expensive. The salaries of the people who work in the Philippines are low so it will be difficult for them to pay for their bills. I wish the hot climate would change so that my fellow Filipinos would have an easier life.

Singapore's First Casino has just opened. Many people like the fact that they built a casino, but im not part of the 'many'. I'm confused on why they built a casino. Didn't they know that it could destroy the life of many in hours as they could get addicted to it. The people who gets addicted to it will be weighed with loans and they couldn't pay it in time and the loan could get larger and larger and soon it will destroy the person's life and especially his family's life. Well, it's up to them if they want to destroy their lives.
What's Up Article Review ( Places In Peril ) —— Zhu Xin Yu
I always wanted to go on a trip to a very beautiful places but after I read the article, I think I better not be going. It is about What happens when tourist attractons attract too many tourists. Many famous places such as Wadi Rum Jordan, Yangshuo China, Tulum Mexico, Timbuktu Mali, Bay of fires Australia, Machu Picchu Peru, Stonehenge Britain and Jaisalmer India have been affected by the tourist's visits. These visits damaged the environment of the places and the waters and airs are polluted too. Although I can not stop those tourists to visit the places but I do wish they can try their best to protect the enviroment, at least don't damage the enviroments.

It is about the mascot parade, after reading the article, i learnt more about the singapore icons. Such as the little durian star, captain green and teamy the bee, which i did not even knew that they exist. I also did not know that water wally would change its colour when the water is polluted and that it loves kayaking and other water sports.

I agree with singapore building a casino as it can attract more tourists into singapore and also more money. But by building a casino could attract alot of singaporeans and could make then lose their property and jobs in just a few hour. There are both advantages and disadvantages for building a casino and also different opinions. But as long as you are not addicted into gambling, i think that it is alright to build a casino.

The casino near Sentosa had opened on Sunday, 14 Feb 2010. Different peoples have different opinions about it, I disagree with it as it might get people addicted to it and do not care about their family anymore. Then, children might lose their own parents and home. Many could also lose their money and propety at just that few seconds.
However, at the other view,Singapore is trying to make money by opening the casino. The casino can attracts tourists to come to Singapore and spent their money.By opening the casino, it can also provide jobs.( Even after I had read the advantages,I still disagree with it. ) So, is it a right to opened a casino?
